Terms of Service
Last updated: September 6, 2026
1. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using Work English, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. If you use the app on behalf of an employer or organization, you represent that you have the authority to accept these terms on their behalf.
2. Description of service
Work English is a language-learning tool that produces vocabulary, practice exercises, feedback and conversation practice from written material you provide or import, typically from workplace systems such as chat tools, email and document platforms. Importing is optional — describing your work is enough to start. It is offered as a hosted service with a one-time allowance of free AI credits and paid monthly plans thereafter; you may also connect your own AI provider key instead of using the included model.
3. Company & imported content
You may import messages, documents and other content that belongs to your employer or third parties. You agree that:
- You have the right to use it. You are solely responsible for confirming that you are authorized to import, store, and process any content you provide, and that doing so complies with your employer's policies and applicable law.
- The operator is not responsible. The operator of this app is not responsible for the content you import, nor for how you or your organization use, manage, share or disclose it. Importing internal or sensitive company material is your decision and your responsibility.
- Licensing content to us. For material you upload, you grant the operator a limited, non-exclusive license to process, store, and use it solely to operate the service and generate your learning content. You keep all ownership and rights in your original content.
- Sensitive data. Do not upload personal data, protected health information, trade secrets, or other restricted information unless you are clearly authorized to do so. We process whatever the AI provider you connect receives, so treat third-party AI processing as an external transfer.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the app to:
- Import content you are not authorized to import or process.
- Store or generate illegal, defamatory, or harassing material.
- Attempt to access other users' data or systems.
- Exceed rate limits, reverse-engineer the service, or interfere with its operation.
- Use the service in violation of your employer's policies or applicable law.
5. AI-generated content
Feedback, translations, flashcards, personas and conversation responses are generated automatically by AI models and intended for language practice. They may contain errors, and are not professional, legal, or medical advice. Do not rely on AI-generated content for real business, compliance, or employment decisions.
6. Plans, payment & third-party AI providers
Free credits. Every new account receives a one-time allowance of AI credits, currently 30, with no payment details required. One credit corresponds to one AI action. The allowance does not renew: once it is spent, AI features require a paid plan, while the rest of your account (your material, your history, export) stays accessible. The allowance is granted per account and we may withhold or revoke it where we detect abuse, such as creating multiple accounts to obtain repeated allowances.
Paid plans. Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance through Paddle, which acts as the merchant of record and whose own terms govern the purchase, including refunds and taxes. Each plan includes a monthly credit allowance described on the pricing page; unused credits do not carry over. You can cancel at any time and retain access until the end of the paid period.
If you configure your own AI provider key, you are responsible for that provider's usage, costs, privacy and compliance, and any content sent to it is governed by that provider's terms and policies.
Fees, credit allowances and plan contents may change; material changes will be published on this page and on the pricing section of the site. The free allowance in particular may be adjusted or discontinued at any time.
7. Intellectual property
Except for content you provide, all rights in the Work English software, interface, service name, logos and trademarks remain with the operator. You are granted a limited, non-transferable right to use the service under these terms; you may not copy, resell, or reverse-engineer it.
8. Privacy
Your use of the service is subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains how data — including imported workplace content — is collected, processed and stored.
9. No warranty & limitation of liability
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any damages arising from the use of the service, including loss of data or loss of confidential information. The liability of the operator is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the twelve months preceding the claim.
Because you decide what workplace content to import and how to use it, the operator expressly disclaims any liability for the use, management, disclosure or misuse of content that originates from your employer or organization.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the operator from any claims, damages or expenses arising out of content you upload, including any claims from your employer or third parties regarding the unauthorized use of their content.
11. Termination
You may stop using the service at any time and delete your account and data. The operator may suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms.
12. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms as the software evolves. Updated terms will be published on this page with a new effective date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
13. Governing law & contact
Governing law and jurisdiction follow the jurisdiction in which the operator is established. Questions about these terms can be sent to the operator through the contact channel listed in the app.
